“HAPPY ANNIVERSARY”

What a wonderful time we had celebrating The Disciples of Christ sixth anniversary with them!  Our fellowship and worship this past weekend was such a blessing.  Yesterday’s service was awesome from beginning to end.  D.O.C.’s praise and worship team displayed God’s annointing in song.  As appreciation for Pastor Mincey’s leadership and dedication to his flock, there were quite a few presentations, spoken adulations, liturgical dance, and more.

Our very own Pastor Joyce preached the sermon with passion and truth from the books of II Chronicles, and Matthew 7:26-27.  His deliverance of God’s word was amazing!

There was a scrumptuous meal following service, prepared by the D.O.C. Women’s Ministry.

We praise the Lord for Pastors Mincey and Joyce…

“STEADFAST”

The AMFB family will join the Disciples of Christ (a Grace Brethren church) family at their Temple Hills location to celebrate their church anniversary at 4pm today in a semi-formal banquet setting.  We praise God for the D.O.C and their Pastor, Kevin Mincey.  We feel blessed and privleged to be a part of the festivities.  The celebration will continue on Sunday (9/17), as we will close the doors of our church for the day to share in D.O.C.’s Sunday church and anniversary service.

Third Fridays seem to roll around so fast!  Last night was our married couples fellowship and night out.  They visited JokesR’Us Comedy Club in Laurel, MD and had a fun filled time!

The remainder of the week, we continued to be steadfast in our church activites:

- Choir Rehearsals:  Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm

- Bible Study:  Wednesday at 7:30pm

- Day of Rest, Reflection, and Rejuvenation:  Monday

-Sunday School:  Sunday 10am

-Sunday Service:  Sunday 11:15am.  Pastor resumed his preaching and teaching within the book of Acts; Chapter 4 verses 1-22.  Also, there was a baby dedication segment of the service for Tim and Kendra’s bundle of joy…baby Tim!

God is so good.  We thank Him and praise His HOLY name!

“ISSUE AT HAND”

Praise God!  Tomorrow evening (7:30) marks another Men’s Ministry and Fellowship at the church.  We thank our Lord and Savior for blessing AMFB with men ready to live for Christ and fellowship with one another in positivity and love.  Every 2nd Friday of the month, they join together to talk about how to become better husbands, fathers, men of integrity, and disciples for the kingdom.  What a time!

Bible Study last night was definitly on point.  God put it on Pastor’s heart to take a break from the book of Revelation in order to share an enlightening video which focused on, How to share your faith…Simply, Effectively, and Biblically.  The focus study was that many people get caught up in the ideology that Jesus has a wonderful plan for their lives.  The ‘wonderful plan’ message is very popular with many Christians because they perceive wonderful as bliss, happiness, all-good, and other selfish driven things.  Unfortunately, this has become mainstream teaching although it is completely unbiblical.  Jesus suffered.  Why shouldn’t we?  When sinners come to Christ, we should thrist for RIGHTEOUSNESS.  We must trust in him at all costs.  Our walk shouldn’t be about our selfishness in desiring a wonderful life.  Our walk should be to get closer to thee and ensure our salvation!

It’s difficult to witness to a person who is at the epitome of happiness in their lives.  In other words, the person (and so-called Christian) with the million dollar home, the two luxury sedans, Money mouth the fat bank account, the dream career, etc., already feels they have been blessed by God due to all they have and how happy it makes them.  Nevermind if they don’t give God the glory.  Nevermind if Jesus isn’t first and foremost in their lives.  Nevermind your Christ banter.  The bottom line is that you don’t have half of what they do; so God’s wonderful plan is working in their lives.

Ever wonder why we equate being blessed with when things are in our favor?  Think about it.  Fellow Christians, we are blessed…all of us.  Someone out here always has it worse than you do.  So, before displaying an envious spirit because you feel that someone is being blessed more than you, thank God that you were able to wake up this morning.  There is someone out here who needs an oxygen tank to breathe.  Praise God for the ability to inhale air on your own.

We at AMFB would like to thank Tinesha Thomas for her loyal dedication as choir director.  At just about nine months pregnant, she continues to encourage and motivate Behind The Cross to excellence.  We praise God for keeping her steadfast.  We love and appreciate you Mrs. Thomas!

This past Sunday, pastor resumed his sermon continuing from within the book of Acts 3:12-26.  In this chapter, Peter speaks to the onlookers multiple times.  He used the text to show us that we must focus on the main issue at hand, as Peter did.  Have you ever denied Christ through thought, word, or deed?  If you choose not to follow the will of God, you choose Satan and his path…point blank!  Jesus’ blood was shed for all our sins.  If you reject him, you choose sin.  There is no middle ground.  Many of us Christians like to take comfort in the fact that Jesus died for our sins.  True, but we need to get out of our comfort zones.  We are becoming too complacent in our Christian walk.  So, let’s put it into another perspective, shall we?  Our sins killed Christ!  Ouch, huh?  Well, try thinking of it that way to never forget.  Now, let’s not allow his death and resurrection to be in vein.  Let’s live for him with all we have and fight for our spot in Heaven because everyone’s time on this earth is limited; some sooner than later, but we know not the day or hour.  Start getting ready today.  No.  Start now!

“WE MUST BE”

It’s that time again folks!  That’s right; the 1st Sunday of the month…our communion and love feast Sunday.  We eagerly anticipate the home cooked-soulfood meals, made by the female Ushers with their delicious special touch.

We are also thankful that God’s blessings and favor are upon our Pastor Stephen Joyce, as he continues to bring us the word in such an anointed way.  Last Sunday, he continued his preaching in the book of Acts chapter 3:1-11 in a sermon titled LESSONS FOR WITNESSING.  What a blessing this chronicle of Acts has been and will continue to be for members and visitors alike.  Speaking of visitors, we had a few!  We thank God for their presence and pray that they were compelled by the word and the power of Christ.  Also during the course of service, school supplies were handed out to kids and teens alike who needed it.  Last Monday was the first day of school for many returning students.  We pray for them to do well in school and for them to keep God first.  There are many temptations and things not of God facing the youth today, right inside the classrooms.  So, we pray for the Lord to be with them daily.

Come out and join us for church service starting at 11:15am…better yet, come a little earlier (10am) to be blessed by Sunday School.  The Classes are broken down by age groups to make learning conducive and cohesive for all.  While you’re at it, why not stop by the church on Wednesday evening at 7:30 for Bible Study?  Pastor is teaching the book of Revelation, verse by verse…chapter by chapter.  Last week, chapter 3:1-6 “The Sardis Church” was the focus of our study.  Pastor equated the church of Sardis, with many churches of current day…churches that have a reputation of being alive, but in actuality are spiritually dead.  In other words, being focused on the Lord in all your ways and doing the work of Christ is more important than how faithful the church appears to be.  You will know a tree by the fruit it bears.  Be faithful to the will of God at all times; not only within the walls of the church just to ‘look the part’.  We have to be the part!  Christ is coming back, like a thief and we will not know when.  We have to be ready.  Unfortunately, many of us are like those in the church of Sardis and think that God doesn’t know our hearts because we appear alive in Christ.  To appear is not enough…we must be!

What a privilege to be walked through the book of Revelation by such an annointed teacher.  Member?  Visitor?  Regular?  Other?  Don’t deprive your soul of the truth.  We’d love to have you.  Don’t hesitate.  Come on out to About My Father’s Business Outreach Ministries!
