“BE REAL WITH GOD”
Our Women’s Shelter Ministry went according to schedule this past Saturday the 24th at 5:30 pm. After several years of being active, we praise God for the consistency of this ministry…each and every fourth Saturday of the month, it goes on without a hitch. We ask that God send us laborers; more people to assist us within this ministry and all that it entails.
Sunday’s service was wonderful for beginning to end. Sunday school classes continue to bless the hearts and minds of all age groups. Our choir sang delightful praises. The sermon titled, “Never Let Go” was riveting, honest, and anointed. Pastor preached from various texts with emphasis on Hebrews 2:1, 3:14, and 4:11. We musn’t drift away from what God has told us. Remember, most of us don’t PLUNGE into sin; most of us drift…little by little, we end up in circumstances that we know aren’t pleasing to God. We often wonder how we got there. It is up to us to retain what we’ve heard. We must hold firmly to His word and make every effort to win the prize (Heaven/Salvation). God already knows our hearts. So, with that, we need to be real with him, while showing Him that we’re serious about wanting to follow Him. Christians, we have to stop majoring on minors and vice versa. In other words, let’s stop fighting over non-essentials (i.e. Denominational lines, etc.). God has a work to accomplish through us, but we must allow Him room to move.
Thanks again Pastor Joyce for delivering God’s word as you’ve so been ordered. God is pleased.
We are elated with the arrival of our first baptismal pool. We were very blessed to have an open door to use another church’s pool when we needed it, but we praise the name of The Lord Jesus Christ that He saw fit to provide us with our own. Our first baptisms within our walls will commence this coming Easter Sunday and we’re thrilled!
The Gospel Transformation series has continued to be a hit with everyone who’s a part of it. Major life change towards Christ are continued testimonies. This Wednesday’s Bible Study was entitled Genuine Repentance. The goals for the lesson were to recognize the facets of genuine repentance, to understand that repentance is meant to be a lifestyle, and to explore some areas that may need our own personal repentance. When we sin, we are wishing that we could remove God’s sovreignty from our lives. Knowing that God has blessed us in an area and purposely going the opposite direction…we don’t honor God in that. That send a direct message to God that we’re greedy. In other words, we’re not satisfied with the many blessings he’s given us, so we make our own arrangements to get everything we feel we deserve; even if it means giving in to our flesh. This is wrong! Sin complicated our lives. We need to be in a constant state of repentance. Too many of us repent because of the consequence(s) of sin, more-so than because of sin itself. We must come to our senses and take a stand against sin. We must strive to be more likethe prodigal son by not trying to minimize our sin. There is no benefit to sin…EVER! But thank God for true repentance and forgiveness.
Our choir had very productive rehearsals this week. We are excited to see what they have in store for us on Sunday.
